In world where we are constantly being bombarded by the media with images of the so called “ideal body” there’s no wonder why we are over critical of our own body image.
It’s interesting, in Paris they now are regulating the size of their runway models, saying that their current standards are unhealthy requirements for the models.
Now the models have to have a minimum BMI that is considered healthy. I’m sure that legislation will make it to the U.S as well because after all Paris is the fashion capital of the world.
As men we have in our mind an ideal image that we want to look, I personally am working on large traps (i.e shoulders) and abs, so when I see a guy that has those things often times I’ll ask what shoulder workouts they do.
That’s one of the basic fundamentals to achieving any goal, find someone who has what you want and “model” their path. I say model because that doesn’t necessarily mean copy, what worked for them may not work for you in the exact same way.
But if you “model” their results the chances of you getting the same is very likely.
This leads me to running your own race, we all have a race that we’re running and will sometimes get discouraged if we don’t get to the finish line as fast as someone else. Think about the olympics, everyone running a 100m dash is sprinting their heart out trying to cross the finish line as fast as possible hoping to be the first.
When they’re running they’re not thinking about how the person next to them is breathing, how long their stride is, are they wearing shorts or a full body suit, none of that. The only thing their focusing on is staying in their lane, running their race, and letting all the hours of practice and training pay off…that’s it.
As your running your weight loss race just focus on yourself and the progress you’re making, instead of how fast someone else is shedding pounds. I go into more details in this audio:
